October 14, 2009 --- NAVGTR Corp. has announced 4 category changes effective immediately. The key changes are
in the Animation and Control categories.
1. "Animation in a Game Cinema" and "Animation
in a Game Engine" have been replaced with "Animation, 2D or Limited 3D" and "Animation, 3D."
Due to the rise of graphics technology, the Academy feels that the previous distinction is no longer necessary.
2.
"Art Direction in a Game Cinema" and "Art Direction in a Game Engine" have been combined into a single
category for "Art Direction." Again, due to the rise of graphics technology, the Academy feels that the previous
distinction is no longer helpful.
3. "Control Design" has been split into 2 new
categories, "Control Design, 2D or Limited 3D" and "Control Design, 3D." The Control Precision category
remains unchanged. Although the rename to Control Engineering was considered, the focus on Precision allows voters to
judge a more specific, recognizable, and tangible aspect of control engineering, while some of the other aspects of control
engineering are judged under design.
4. The "Children's" categories have been renamed
to "Children/Family."
